5-Day Magical Pilgrimage & Walkabout
Wednesday 17th. to Sunday 21st. August 2016
MERLYNS TRAVELS with technical assistance from YOUNES REJSER
To complete our triangle of the 3 Capital cities of Scandinavia, our focus now turns towards Oslo, capital city of Norway.
Oslo is a good example of a clearly defined Chakra system with the main city street, karl Johan, being the central axis or spine of the entire city - with the famous Vigeland Sculpure Park at one end and, Slotsparken, the Royal Castle near the middle, the Oslo Town hall or Rådhus near the ever popular harbour area of Aker brygge, influencing the heart of the city. Also in this area, conncentrated around the central street, Karl Johan, we have the National Theatre & University of Oslo, plus the Stortinget, or focus of government and gathering of politicians.
At the opposite end, we have the first two chakras concentrated around Akerhus Festning, with its harbour for the Oslo boat to Denmark, the Oslo Domkirke and nearby the main railway station at the root.
Each day we shall discover the hidden dimensions of the city of Oslo on our magical walkabout. Each day becomes a day of increased light and revelation.
Come and join us for a healing pilgrimage of Norway's Capital city during the summer season of August 2016!
MAGICAL OSLO - OUR 5-DAY PROGRAM
DAY 1 - Wednesday
Morning travel to London Oslo Airport - after check-in at centrally located hotel, our exploration begins with a lunchtime visit to Vigeland Park. The Park is one of Norway's most visited tourist attractions. The unique sculpture park is Gustav Vigeland's (1869-1943) lifework with more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite and wrought iron. Vigeland was also in charge of the design & architectural layout of the Park. It was completed between 1939-1949. Most of the sculptures in the park are located along an axis of 850 metres from the Main Gate to the Wheel of Life.
There is also a museum that was built by the City of Oslo as both studio & home for the sculptor Gustav Vigeland in the 1920s. It is one of the world's most well-endowed museums for a single artist. We will enjoy our experience of being exposed to the rather Scorpio-type energies of this place and how this energy center influences not only the capital city, but the national itself.
Also included in this first day, we wish to honour another great son of Oslo and visit the Edward Munch Museum. This artist embodies the soul of the nation, and one
painting above all else has become the image internationally associated with
Norway - "The Scream" - the woman with open mouth on the bridge. The Munch museum is located at Tøyen station, the opposite ditrection from the Frogner area & Vigeland Park, which gives us the opportunity to take in a large part of central Oslo on our journey hrough the main city.
Evening relaxation & dinner in Aker Brygge.
DAY 2 - Thursday
At the start of our second day we start at the Castle & Karl-Johan monument and slowly work our way down the main Karl Johans street, taking in the University and national Theatre and arriving at Stortinget. Guided Tour of the public section to the goverment building. Lunch nearby.
Evening performance at the National Theatre or Det Norske Teater.
DAY 3 - Friday
Morning visit to Oslo Domkirke & Oslo Sentral railway station. Our walkabout continues to pass Borsen on our way to the Akerhus slott. Here we shall have lunch and explore the fortress area. Late afternoon free for shopping.
Our evening dinner & social arrangement will include a special musical surprise event.
DAY 4 - Saturday
We take the boat from Rådhusbrygger to cross the waters and visit the Norsk Folke Museum. Lunch near the Viking ships. Group Ritual in the park.
We also visit the old Aker Church - Oslo's oldest remaining building & church from its Mediaeval origins. The church was built around 1150 AD.
To celebrate our final evening together we visit a special restaurant followed by a performance at the new Opera house located on the harbour.
DAY 5 - Sunday
After breakfast for our final day we shall visit some of the more "alternative" places in Oslo's city. We start at Youngs Torget and the market there, art galleries etc.. Our final walkabout of the City with lunch at a special venue - the famous ski jump at Holmenbakken, with spectacular views over the city & surrounding area.
